I'm getting tired of using the word "dark" in the title of postings, and have difficulties in inventing alternatives. Maybe I should just randomly select a synonym...
Once again it was late when I managed to go for a walk. I thought about a posting by Markus Spring, titled "Squareness", which kept me engaged to such a degree that I almost didn't remember to take photographs. (For some reason Markus' blog was not responding when I was writing this, so I couldn't get the exact address of the posting. -- Link updated later.)
As you see above, I did manage to take some photographs, because by now it is almost like a reflex and doesn't require much thinking. It was rather nice out there, despite the darkness, as there was some fog, and the moon generated a mysterious mood to the landscape.
Very nice. Especially enjoyed "Ducks" and "Park". It gets so dark where I live that I tend to not even consider photographing outside an hour after the sun sets, but you are inspiring me to go find some street lights...

ReplyDeleteI should have mentioned that many of these photographs were not taken handheld. I once again resorted to using my pocketable mini-tripod, making 8 second exposures at ISO 125 and f/2.0.
When there are clouds, it is often much brighter, due to the city lights being reflected down from the clouds, and this makes handheld photography easier.
@Francesco: It was nice that some ducks were so still as to allow long exposures.
Any fans of "Cone" here? I like that tension between nature and the prominent utility.
ReplyDelete@Markus: In retrospect it is my favorite. I set the camera on the ground on top of a the 15-cm long mini tripod; composition was difficult as I didn't want to lie in the mud to look into the LCD.
