It was all I wanted to do in this life

The photographs were taken at Meiko on April 30th.

The weather had been good for commuting by bicycle. Sunny and dry, 8 °C in the morning and 13 °C in the afternoon.

And I so old, so cold, so languorously white

The photographs were taken in Meiko on February 20th.

I commuted by car today, because the bicycle is broken. I haven't yet got a shipping notice about the new bicycle, but there was a message that it was being "collected". Today would have been a great day for riding a bicycle: in the afternoon +6 °C and relatively dry.

Update: I got a shipping notice of the bicycle. Can't wait for it to arrive.

If I should put the water in now

The photographs were taken on January 6th at Grenomossen and Tränuhals.

Today I walked for almost two hours at Vaakkoi. It wasn't quite as flooded as I thought it would be, but in some places almost all of the snow had melted away.

The saddest music keeps the sweetest time

This morning I walked for almost three hours, starting from Oittaa, going to Brobacka, and returning via another route. In six days I have got 13 hours of exercise.

The photographs were taken on December 5th at Meiko.

You, to teach me to see it, to see

The photographs were taken on November 15th in Meiko.

The weather got colder today. In the morning it was wet, due to melting snow, and in the afternoon there was some ice on the road. The studded winter tires were useful. Some water had got into the bicycle gear shifter, and it stopped working on the way home due to freezing.

That have nothing to do with sunlight

These photographs were taken on August 29th at lake Tränuhals. We are having strong winds which pull the leaves from trees.

Came to see ourselves in a world of dreams

I have got so far 12 hours of exercise this week. Today seems to be a sunny day, +11 °C in the forecast.

The photographs were taken at lake Mustjärvi, Tränuhals and Nydalsviken on April 19th.

Into the great body of the world

Today I went for a walk in Tremanskärr. The night was cold, so the snow was frozen hard, but in the swamp there were wet and flooded spots so one had to be careful where to put the foot.

The photographs were taken on March 7th in Meiko, between lake Kommelpott and lake Tränuhals.

Calling on reason, fantasy, memory, eyes and ears

Sunny days have been rather rare recently, as it has been mostly clouded. On January 6th there was plenty of sunshine, and I took a long walk in Meiko. These photographs were taken at lake Tränuhals.

Today I walked for two hours in Sipoonkorpi National Park. It was clouded, snow was melting, but I enjoyed the walk. It was somewhat slippery, and when coming down a rocky hill I twisted my ankle a bit. Luckily it wasn't serious, as the pain eased after a while, and now the ankle feels all right.

I believe reality is approximately 65% if

These photographs were taken on January 6th, which was one of the cold and fine winter days, snow and frost making magic to the landscape. I walked for over three hours.

I have had the Panasonic LX100 camera for ten weeks now, and have taken 11,000 photographs with it. Once again I have recognised how much there is to be learned about taking photographs, and how dense I can be at seeing things.

If only I could strip off the black map

The best time of the year winter is when there is white snow, blue sky, and sun shining so that the brightness hurts the eyes. So far this winter there hasn't been much time for experiencing such moments, except on December 25th.

Here in Finland one of the big topics in the news has been Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on two Finnish financial services groups. This has generated somewhat heated discussion in various forums on the net sites of Finnish newspapers.

For an ordinary citizen it is rather difficult to understand how these things work, that there is malware that takes over computers which can then be used to launch DDoS attacks against targets. The attackers don't actually break in to the target system (in this case, the web sites of Finnish banks), they just make the systems unable to respond because of excessive traffic.

In a situation like this it is easy to get scared if you don't know how computers and internet work. Some people have been afraid that their money can be stolen in a DDoS attack; some others are convinced that Russians are behind the attacks.

I did some searching on the net and found interesting places where various hacker groups and group (ex-)members diss each other. In fact, it seems that there is a similar subculture going on with hackers as with rappers, that is, people start feuding because they want to be noticed, and this has nothing to do with talent, skills, or understanding; it is just a way of trying to attract attention. But sometimes the measures taken are rather excessive.

A craving too frightening to name, or too tender

I managed to do a little shopping today to fill the fridge, but otherwise I'm not feeling good at all, the flu is bothering more and more. Thus, no walking outside is in the schedule today. But here are photographs taken on December 20th in Meiko, the darkness fits the current mood.
