We got some rain during the night and in the morning, clearing the air of dust and making the landscape green. But it was little and didn't really help with the drought.

The photographs were taken on May 13th.
So far this week I have got 11 1/2 hours of exercise. I need to do some work in the garden in the afternoon, but otherwise I'll take it easy today.

The photographs were taken in Helsinki on February 17th.
The weather is warming up. This morning we had -9 °C and in the afternoon -5 °C. The ice and snow on the road is starting to melt, making the road more slippery that it was earlier.

The photographs were taken on July 31st at London Zoo.
This morning I walked for almost three hours at Sipoonkorpi National Park, exploring the swamps northeast of Viirilä. I tasted blueberries, (overripe) cloudberries, raspberries and cranberries. A couple of deer fly got to me.

Here is Lapland the summer is only a little more advanced that it was a month ago in Helsinki. This morning I walked the Pyhän Jyssäys route which goes up to the Pikku-Pyhävaara hill. It took some time to find the starting point of the route, so I got some extra walking in the beginning.

The photograph was taken on May 14th in Petikko.
On Monday and Tuesday it rained, and the bicycle got dirty. I did some repairs to it, replacing brake pads, and cleaning and lubing the chain. Today was a sunny day, great for commuting by bicycle.

The photographs were taken in Meiko on July 16th.
This morning it rained, but in the afternoon it was dry. The wind direction turned so that I had partial backwind both in the morning and in the afternoon.

The photographs were taken in Nuuksio on July 4th.
This morning I rode the bicycle for over two hours, a distance of 50 km. I circled around the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, going through Kivistö and Seutula, and returning via Ruotsinkylä and Pakkala.

The photographs were taken at Myllyjärvi south of Luukki on June 19th.
Today is a rainy day once again. In the morning I walked for 2 1/2 hours in Nuuksio south of lake Suolikas. I found a lake where there were Gavia stellata, a parent with a young one floating on the water. This was quite a surprise, I never thought this lake would have a nesting pair. So far this summer I have seen six pairs of Gavia stellata with young ones. I ate blueberries and cloudberries while watching the birds.

These photographs were taken at Sipoonkorpi National Park on August 23rd. It was raining.

The delicate green colors of spring lasted longer than usually because of the cool weather. In fact, we didn't have +25 °C temperature since a month, but on Sunday the temperature rose to +25 °C.
I rode the bicycle on Sunday for two hours, exploring the city of Espoo. Some 25 years ago I rode the bicycle in Espoo during summer weekends, but the landscape has changed a lot since then. There are roads that didn't exist 25 years ago, and dwelling zones in places which used to be fields and forests. I got lost several times, but it was good to explore places completely new for me.
The photographs were taken at Sipoonkorpi National Park on June 24th and 25th.

On May 29th I walked in Luukki, west and northwest of lake Myllyjärvi. It was wet, and the fresh green colors were almost overwhelming.
This week I have commuted by bicycle, 128 km in all, 6 hours of exercise. I'm getting cramps in the big leg muscles, maybe I have been going a bit too fast. In the weekend I have to take it a bit easier.

The spring hasn't been advancing much during the cold period we are having. But still, it feels like spring.

Today I was so busy that I made all kinds of stupid mistakes, such as forgetting things, confusing dates in the calendar and so on. But so it goes sometimes.
Today I commuted by bicycle, and it went fine, as the muscle soreness didn't bother much any more. Tomorrow I'll commute by bicycle again.

I did 45 minutes of shoveling snow this morning. There was 10 cm of very heavy show and snow slush to move. We got a little more snow during the day, but it was so wet that it melted at once. The landscape looks like winter now. However, I'm still rather tired, and shoveling snow provided plenty of exercise, so it may be that I won't go for a walk today.
Here is a pair of photographs, taken at approximately the same spot in Helsinki on February 24th and 27th. This was when the last of the snow we had melted away. Since then we had warm and dry weather, and it felt like spring - until today.

Green is the theme of this posting. A diverse set of subjects, with plenty of the green stuff in each.

Even though I have mentioned signs of autumn appearing, mostly it is still green, even excessively green in some places.

It seems that photographs are now coming in threefolds, cf. two previous postings.
And now that this is the third posting with three photographs of the same subject, I wonder what comes next.
I have commuted by bicycle each time this week. And it seems that the hills are getting smaller, and the wind is more and more often blowing from behind.
