And I was rocked into remembrance

These photographs were taken on June 6th in Sipoonkorpi. At first I thought I should make a posting with photographs that would suit the start of summer vacation, but these two were waiting to be posted, and they are as fitting as any I have.

PS. There is a new review of the Panasonic LX100. I noticed some details that were not quite right but otherwise competent and worth reading.

What do we want in any body but the world?

It's getting late in the summer, and autumn leaf color is appearing here and there. The dry ground also helps in coloring tree foliage, as there have been long periods of no rain this summer.

I have read about 35 books during the four-week long vacation, most of which were rather light reading, with one or two more serious books included. Did I watch tv during the vacation? Well, one or two hours, but that was all. And there was a lot of walking, a moderate amount of swimming, and a bit too much car driving. We visited two amusement parks, a zoo, a spa, and traveled all the way to Lapland. Not a bad summer vacation.

And slowly things slip away

Well, now it is vacation time. I have plans for traveling with the children, all the way to Lapland, but that is not yet. Now I'm relaxing at home, or maybe I should note that there is a long wish list from the children about things to do during the vacation.

He spoke Moo and Gnu and Ha

Summer vacation is approaching, and there should be time for relaxing, for walking in the woods, and for a little bit of traveling as well. I hope things turn out well. It has been a busy spring and summer, and it should be good to forget work-related things for a while.

I took my bicycle to a repair shop to get the broken spokes fixed. I have been commuting by bicycle so regularly that I have almost forgotten how it is to use car or bus.

As though it belonged to it all year long

Today there was a feeling of sunrise in Helsinki when I arrived to work. Length of day is now 9 h 18 min, which means that one can get a doze of sunlight even on work days, not just on weekends. Next week I'll be on winter vacation, and there may be breaks in the postings here, or maybe not, don't know yet.
