Images of what might be

The photographs were taken on July 1st while visiting the Sallatunturi fells in Salla, Lapland.

I'll be traveling the next few days, to London, so there may be a break in the postings here. But I'll take a lot of photographs, so there will be plenty of material to go through later on.

And the reindeer modeled from smudge in the Font de Gaume grotto

We stayed for two nights in Kuusamo. On July 22nd I went for a walk in the forests, and on the path some reindeer appeared from behind a tiny hill. They didn't notice me straight away, and I stayed still, but it didn't take long for them to spot me.

It’s hot today, you know

Here are two more photographs taken at Kilpisjärvi, on July 20th, when we drove by car south to Rovaniemi. A reindeer walked past our accommodation in the morning.

Yesterday was hot, +29 °C, and today will be also. On Monday and Tuesday I went swimming with my daughter, today I might ride the bicycle, have to see how that goes. I haven't taken many photographs recently, but there are still plenty remaining from the 11-day trip to Lapland.

Save where your nostril quivers, arches, and you snort in the night

Yesterday I went through 400 of the 3124 photographs I took while traveling to Lapland. I thought that the first one posted here should be this one, showing reindeer outside the window of the cabin we were staying in. Not a great capture, but depicts some of the feeling; this was the night of the first day we were at Kilpisjärvi.

Today promises to be another hot day, up to +30 °C, and above +28 °C between 11 am and 8 pm. I think some swimming is in the program.

My love is a toy model waiting

There was some rain during morning in Kuusamo. After noon we did some swimming, and then I went for a walk in the forests. There were several little lakes, the path going up and down tiny hills.

I was rather surprised to see a pair of antlers appear behind one such hill. I stopped still. Four reindeer appeared walking towards me on the path, ten meters away, two adults and two calves. I took some photographs. One of the adults had big antlers, and looked very carefully at me. Then they got off the path and walked away to the forest.

The photograph was taken at Särkänniemi on July 3rd.
