Yesterday, before I swam

We are now in Kajaani, and it is hot, +28 °C, and there has also been some rain. We tested Kaukavesi swimming center in Kajaani, and it was good. The place wasn't crowded, only a couple of other people in addition to us.

The photographs were taken in Särkänniemi on July 3rd.

More animals than I can tell

Today I rode the bicycle for 22 km, and then we went swimming with the children to lake Myllyjärvi. Today there were only a couple of other people swimming, due to cooler weather.

One day when we were swimming at Myllyjärvi a guy told that one time he was swimming there he had seen a bear and two cubs at the opposite shore. I'm not quite sure whether I should trust this observation, but it is true that the lake is close to a wilderness area where few people go.

Afterwards I had a lot of chores to do at home, as I'm back to work tomorrow. It has been a nice summer, but now the weather seems to be turning cooler. This morning we had 24 °C, but during the day the temperature dropped to 19 °C. In fact, when we were swimming, the water was warmer than the air, probably 23 °C vs. 21 °C.

Here are some photographs taken today. The overcast weather was a nice change, resulting in better photographs than sunshine.

In a dark time, the eye begins to see

Today I went with children to Luukki lake for swimming, just before it started to rain. But we managed to have a nice time, and the water was rather warm and there was plenty of room on the beach as other people had started leaving due to black clouds approaching from west.

The next few days I'll be very busy, and thus there won't probably be a posting here until later next week. So you then!

As if flame is the color of emergency

I have done a lot of reading recently, but today it started to feel I'm not able to concentrate on reading any more, or writing either. I went swimming with the children just before dinner, the water was warmer than yesterday, and we didn't get any mosquito bites either.

I have noticed that I'm sore in the muscles; apparently riding the bicycle or walking in the woods requires rather different muscles than swimming. But it has been nice to be in the water, enjoying the summer.
