If I should put the water in now

The photographs were taken on January 6th at Grenomossen and Tränuhals.

Today I walked for almost two hours at Vaakkoi. It wasn't quite as flooded as I thought it would be, but in some places almost all of the snow had melted away.

White wonder of creation, fashioned in

The photographs were taken at Grenomossen swamp in Meiko on January 2nd. The swamp was frozen and there was a little bit of snowfall.

Today I walked at Myllyjärvi, south of Luukki, the same place as yesterday. There was new snow, and the only fresh tracks were made by snowshoes. I didn't see anyone else. There was a big spider walking slowly on top of the snow. It was -2 °C, so this was quite an achievement.

There is 10 cm of new snow already today, and there will be more. This means some extra exercise for the afternoon. So far this week I have got 10 1/2 hours of exercise.

Update: I processed some of the more recent photographs today and uploaded them to Flickr. I have been pondering whether the image stabilization of the LX100 isn't quite as good as on the LX3/LX5. But then I got the photograph shown below, taken handheld, at 3.2 seconds (!) exposure. I was standing in the snow, feet apart, taking half a dozen photographs, of which this one was the sharpest. I'm not going to complain about the image stabilization of the LX100 any more.

That looked up at the sky so proud and big

This is Grenomossen swamp in Meiko, which I visited on March 24th. A rather large bird circled above the swamp some distance away, and I couldn't be sure of the species. The LX5 is at tele end 90 mm (equiv.) and even at the original size of the image file the bird is difficult to identify. Maybe Buteo buteo? As you note, I'm not an expert on birds.

Once again, warmth that falls

Today is a sunny, warm (+9 °C) day. I did some chores which needed to be done, and went for a long walk in Meiko, 3 1/2 hours in all, past lakes Korsolampi and Immerlampi to lake Tränuhals, from there north to where the big electric lines go across the lake, and from there southwest to Grenomossen swamp which I haven't visited earlier. These photographs were taken today at Grenomossen, which was still frozen so that it was possible to walk across.
