And feel and its clean smell have satisfied

The photographs were taken while walking around lake Suolikas in Nuuksio on August 28th.

I commuted by bicycle today. Since the beginning of May I have got 3,000 km riding the bicycle, and 4,871 km since the beginning of this year. I think 6,000 km may be possible by the end of the year, depending on road conditions (i.e. whether snow comes early).

And they make her wooden ones

The photographs were taken at lake Suolikas in Nuuksio on August 28th.

In the beginning of this week it was cold, 3 °C in the morning. Now it is warming up. It has been nice to commute by bicycle.

And I think it's gonna be a long long time

Cause you’re just too kind to see

The photographs were taken at lake Suolikas in Nuuksio on August 28th.

Trump made a speech at UN today. I wish it would be possible to un-make it.

When I had no eyes I listened

The photographs were taken on lake Suolikas in Nuuksio on May 29th. There was a lot of pine pollen to be seen.

I have been thinking that riding the bicycle for 33 km each workday is quite a nice amount. Today I talked with a colleague who is riding 40 or 60 km each workday, and "200 km extra" during the weekend.

For tomorrow the weather forecast promises 20 mm of rain, and thunder.

What else is there?

The photographs were taken on May 29th in Nuuksio, walking around lake Suolikas.

This morning I walked for two hours in Tremanskärr, exploring the swamps and listening to birds.

I rode the bicycle for six hours this week, and walked four hours during the weekend. I'm not sure whether the four hours spent at Linnanmäki Amusement Park counts as exercise, but maybe it does, as it was mostly walking from one ride to another, as there was no waiting time at the queues.

Such is the power of love in gentle mind

The photographs were taken at lake Suolikas on March 28th.

We had rather variable weather today: sunshine, rain, hail. In the morning there was backwind and in the afternoon headwind. The other way round would be better.

By the force of our longing it is

The photograph was taken on March 28th at lake Suolikas.

This morning we had rain, and the road was wet with deep puddles of water. But in the afternoon we had sunshine, and the road was dry. Quite variable weather, feels like spring.

Today I took my old bicycle to Sortti Station for recycling, after removing some parts that might still be usable. I thought for some time that I might make repairs to the old bicycle, but finally I realized I don't have any interest in it. I had the old bicycle for 11 years, and rode something like 30,000 km on it. Not bad at all, but still I was a little bit sad when I got rid of it at the recycling center.

This discipline, this glaze

The photographs were taken at lake Suolikas on March 28th.

There have been over 1.5 million views of my photographs at Flickr. On June 29th, 2015 the count passed 1 million views. Currently the view rate is such that there would be 1 million views each year. Looking at the statistics, it seems that certain places generate interest, such as Sipoonkorpi, Tremanskärr, Saana, Porkkalanniemi, etc. Sometimes there are several hundred views in a day generated by such searches.

Then the sun

The photographs were taken at lake Suolikas in Nuuksio on March 28th.

This morning I walked for 1 1/2 hours at Tremanskärr, exploring signs of spring. It rained a little bit, which cleared the air of pollen and dust.

I could be: ice

The photographs were taken on March 28th at lake Suolikas in Nuuksio.

This morning I walked for over two hours in the north parts of Luukki, enjoying the spring weather. When I started, the temperature was +1 °C, and when I returned, +10 °C. In some shadowed spots there still remains a little bit of snow, and a little ice remains on the lakes, but otherwise winter seems to have passed.

My hands remember enough not to touch

The photographs were taken in Nuuksio on January 31st, southwest of lake Suolikas.

I have got eight hours of exercise in four days. Walking in deep snow is rather tough, and back muscles are a bit sore, but that should pass soon.

In the forest to live

The photographs were taken on January 16th in the north parts of Nuuksio, west and southwest of lake Suolikas.

I haven't been commuting by bicycle so far this week. Instead, I have been walking, in two days for almost three hours. It is wet, and there is ice on the road, so it can be slippery.

So we blink our eyes, as if a tiger had sprung out

The photographs were taken on December 19th in Nuuksio, at lake Sammalkuoho and lake Suolikas.

This week I have walked for 16 hours across forests and swamps, exploring Nuuksio, Oittaa etc., discovering corners I hadn't yet visited. I have been eating quite a lot so the weight hasn't gone down despite the exercise.

Today I walked in Petikko, and it was snowing. We have got some 5 cm of snow, so it looks like winter now.

In addition to walking, I have been doing quite a lot of reading, finishing two books each day. Mostly light reading, but there are also some heavier volumes in the pile of books.

Eyes stop

The photographs were taken at lake Suolikas on December 19th.

This morning I walked for 2 hours 45 minutes at Meiko, exploring Grenomossen swamp, which was frozen and easy to walk across. When returning I visited lake Lappträsk and lake Meiko. On lake Meiko there were people ice fishing and skating.

In the posting for yesterday I wrote that I didn't see anyone at Vaakkoi, not even a dog. Late in the evening I realized that in fact I saw something and wondered why I had forgotten it. Near lake Iso Lehmälampi there was a dog who started barking when I was at 50 meters distance.

To make the dog silent, the owner shouted a Finnish swear word - "Perkele!" - and it was really something extraordinary. The shouter was a smallish elderly lady, but her voice was extremely loud and quite deep, perhaps the voice of a smoker and a drinker, and the way she shouted, it was as if all the mistakes and disappointments in a life had been included in that one word: "Perkele!".

(Sidenote: the Finnish language is lush with swear words for all possible occasions.)

I didn't hear any sounds from the dog after the swear word, so it was quite effective.
