I’m grateful that I’ve never had to do

The photograph was taken on December 16th.

This week in four days I have got eight hours of exercise, walking in the snowy landscape. Today I even saw the sun.

He was bleary-eyed

The photograph was taken in Luukki on September 23rd.

Today I commuted by car and train, because of meetings. In the morning the temperature was at 1 °C, the coldest day so far this autumn.

He knows the facts, and that is that

The photograph was taken on March 30th.

I walked two hours this morning, exploring Timmermalmi nature protection area. A lot of birds were singing.

We don’t want your tiny hands

The photograph was taken on January 1st, 2017.

This morning I walked for two hours, exploring a frozen swamp. Once again the sun was visible on the sky.

Yesterday a lot of people were walking, to #resist. It was great to see so much positive feeling. The world is not lost.

For reason, much too strong for fantasy

The photographs were taken on February 12th in Helsinki.

This morning I walked for two hours in the north parts of Sipoonkorpi National Park. In some places there was almost 50 cm of snow, but usually it was less than 20 cm, and in many places the snow was frozen a bit, carrying a person walking. I met two men riding fatbikes along the paths in the forest, and there were plenty of moose and deer tracks.

Is for that first scene anyway

The photographs were taken in Helsinki on December 17th.

This morning I walked for two hours in Vaakkoi, circling around three lakes: Vähä Majalampi, Majalampi and Mylly-Majalampi. I didn't see anyone, not even a dog. And there were only a couple of cars on the road, mainly taxis and buses. The swamps are a little bit wet still, but otherwise the ground is frozen. There is about 5 cm of ice on the lakes, and it probably carries a person, but I didn't take any shortcuts, to be safe.

That too is a form

These photographs were taken in Helsinki on October 22nd, while commuting by bus.

The length of day is now 7 h 4 min. It has been clouded, and I don't remember when it was last that I saw the sun.

Exposing the snow flower you’ve caught for life

Today I walked for two hours in the north parts of Nuuksio, walking from the parking place at Yli-Takkula west to lake Saarijärvi, then south to lake Urja, then east to lake Vääräjärvi, and north along lake Myllyjärvi.

However, from lake Myllyjärvi there wasn't any path in the snow going back north, and in some places the snow was half a meter deep, soft and wet, so it was heavy going. There were some snowshoe tracks and moose tracks, which helped a bit.

However, at this point I started to be rather tired, so I didn't go to lake Hauklampi. Instead I walked past the lake along the hill on the east side. There were no other cars, and not even fresh tracks of cars at the parking place, and it was quiet indeed.

It hain't no use to grumble and complane

The weather continues to be wet. We got a little bit of new snow during the night, and that is melting away, temperature is at +2 °C. Depth of snow is 16 cm, which is 1 cm less than yesterday.

I visited with my daughter Nuuksio National Park yesterday, starting from the parking place by lake Haukkalampi. It seemed to be a long time since last visiting Haukkalampi, and I guess it was, as searching through the postings the previous mention of Haukkalampi was from April 2013.

At Haukkalampi the parking place wasn't empty, but not crowded either, probably because of snow/rain. The paths were mostly in good shape, though the snow had turned to slush in some places, and there was some ice on the path as well. The landscape was less winter-like than in 2013 when we visited Haukkalampi several times, but still not bad, there was a touch of wilderness thanks to the silence and lack of other people.

The photographs were taken on February 2nd, which was a wet day.

Held up before my eyes a glass

In the news today there was an article about people, especially young men, getting too little physical exercise. One hour per day was the recommendation.

I gained some weight during the darkest time of the year, but this week and the previous one have been helping in going down with the weight, getting at least 1 1/2 hours of exercise each day. There is still 2 kg to go until I'm at where I was last summer, but this is not bad, it is over 10 kg less weight than three years ago.

Here are some blurry photographs, taken while walking on January 25th, which was one of the dark days. Exposure was 0.3...0.5 second, f/1.7, ISO 800.

Go for a hungry dream

There have been rather wet days during this winter. These photographs were taken on January 19th.

I have been walking 1 1/2...2 hours each day in forests and swamps, but it may be that some kind of flu is coming up. Yesterday I wasn't quite in shape, and now I'm having worse symptoms. But at least no fever yet.

Perhaps I really am the sort of person you imagine

It has been excessively busy at work recently, for everyone, and that means all kinds of surprises due to hurry. But maybe this will calm down at some point.

I didn't commute by bicycle today, mostly due to laziness. Maybe tomorrow, but that depends on how much snow we are getting during the night.
