Something there is that doesn't love a wall

The photograph was taken on January 3rd.

And I hear the ticking of time, the whirring

The photograph was taken on December 31st.

This morning I walked for almost two hours, enjoying the winter landscape. Temperature was at -10 °C, and a bit of sunshine was visible occasionally.

Love your curves and all your edges

February 3rd and March 2nd, same place, different mood.

The new iMac is now in use, and I must resist the temptation for further finetuning. I partitioned the external storage into a single big partition to make room for the Time Machine backup, as the new machine has a much bigger hard disk. Currently there is 2.4 TB of disk free on the iMac, which seems a lot, but in a few years I suspect disk space will once again be scarce.

I hold you like a hole holds light

The flu is bothering a lot, especially the coughing, and the fever. But I guess this will take a couple of days, and then I'll be feeling better once again.

These photographs were taken on December 16th and 17th.

The eyes started from your head

There is an Angry Birds themed playground in Oittaa south of lake Bodom, which I have visited a couple of times with my youngest daughter. I'm not really a fan of the Angry Birds game, although I did play it for a while, and I'm not really keen on getting such a brand marked on one thing after another.

The two pairs of photographs here try to illustrate my disinterest with such brands. Things may look fine, but what is there under the surface of such brands as Disney, Angry Birds etc.? What I feel life is more about is illustrated by the second pair of photographs.

The sun's small fury feeds me

I commuted by bus today, and didn't have much time for photography. I used most of the commute time for reading, it is nice to sit in a bus and read a good book.

Architectural

My primary interest in taking photographs is the landscape, but also architecture has some interesting aspects. Here are two photographs taken in the library building at Myyrmäki. There was an exhibition of photographs in the lobby, which caught my interest, mainly because I'm pondering what to do with the prints.

At least I got a bit organized, buying a folder which can hold a dozen (maybe two dozen) 30 x 30 cm prints. And I also bought some material to be used in the framing, but I'm not yet sure whether it will work.

Rio Grande

Every once in a while we go with the family to have dinner in Rio Grande, a tex-mex restaurant at Myyrmäki, Vantaa. For a tex-mex place, it is quite enjoyable, and most of all it is not part of any big chain, which tend to be industrialized to the extreme. Here you get the benefits a small place, and the food is decent - maybe I should say good, but what credentials do I have as a food critic?

I know very well that a recommendation of this kind will have no impact whatsoever on the restaurant, as so few of the readers of this blog come from Finland, but maybe there is a way even this little bit of well-wishing on the net will do some good.

Coming back to photography, here are some views from today. Next, I'll be traveling, so there is a break of some days until the next posting.
