Another viewpoint

One of the aspects of having a camera with you is the possibility of looking everyday things from a new perspective. Yesterday night I put my camera on top of a fence, with the lens pointing upwards, and used the self-timer to take a photo of trees lighted by lamps from below.

I like the shapes of bare trees, and here they are not silhouttes but instead almost white (well, yellowish) against the night sky. And there are also start visible in the night sky. And unfortunately also some sensor noise - I should perhaps have used ISO 80 or 100, but instead used 200.

Today it is once again raining, so I'm not sure whether I'll do any photography. Perhaps read a book instead.

Winter coming

Today was a cold day, below freezing. No rain, and no snow either. At the nearby lake the first ice started to form this evening. Smaller ponds had already an ice cover.

It was completely still, and no clouds, so this night will be quite cold. But tomorrow will be warmer, and we will get rain once again. Later this week it is forecasted that the temperature will drop again.

I like below zero weather. Unfortunately, snow is probably not going to appear yet this week.

I used a mini-tripod to take long exposures with the LX3. Having a bigger tripod would make it easier to find a good spot for photography, but as I have mentioned earlier, I like to walk light.

Discoveries

I was quite taken with this wet scene yesterday, the bright water drops hanging from above made an interesting display. But now I feel I did not really catch the image as well as possible. Taking the photo "sideways", looking at the drops of water from the side would have been quite interesting. As would have been going even closer to the drops.

On the other hand, there was little room for movement - the bright drops disappeared from most directions, as the light was caught in them only from limited viewpoints. Of course, in this kind of situation you could manipulate the light by using reflectors etc., but I'm not into that kind of photography.
