Setting sun up in the trees

Treetops, originally uploaded by jiihaa.

Trunks, originally uploaded by jiihaa.

For some reason, I looked upwards today. Partly because it was getting dark at the ground level, partly because it was so nice sunshine up in the treetops. Autumn is progressing fast now, leaf carpet getting thicker, leaf colors getting brighter.

Well, if you feel that the light is getting rare, dwindling, you develop even more sensitivity for it, it's brightness, the connected warmth. #2 nicely iuxtaposes the earthy quality of the trunks and the light, while #1 is feasting in the still existing brightness, but transports that feeling of vanishing light already. Fine.

Thanks! I did some heavy manipulation in LightZone with these photographs, bringing out some of the colors from the shadows, such as the green leaves closer to the camera (they were almost black in the original version).
