The photograph was taken in Kajaani on July 23rd. The exact species is unknown because I didn't see the underside of the wings.
(Posting title is from the poem Consecration by Susan Stewart.)
Photographs from Finland.
I write book reviews in Finnish in the Valopolku blog.

Fine iuxtaposition of that technical surface with the perfect form of the butterfly. Such things almost make me wonder about creation (beware, I am certainly no creationist!). But a wonder such things are, can't help it.
In Finnish this particular type of butterfly is "hopeatäplä", "silver spot", and the name fits the surface at a bridge construction site.
