There was a big field of bluish flowers, apparently put on the roadside to provide some eye candy for the car drivers on the Ring III road here in Vantaa. I tried to identify the flower but no luck. Any idea what this is?

The LX3's wide angle made the second image great.
Now, I like this from the Panasonic website:
"The CCD in the DMC-LX5 which was highly acclaimed from the specialists worldwide is redesigned to achieve the further expansion of dynamic range by increasing the sensitivity by approx. 31% and the saturation by approx.38%"

Most likely not planted for its looks but because it's one of the most efficient plants for bees to produce honey from.
Ok, now I even now the name and purpose of this plant. But even without that knowledge both of your images are really appealing, both in composition - I really learned to like the square format - and the wonderful colors, especially harmonic in the 2nd image, where even the sky reflects the blossoms' colors.
@Andreas: Thanks indeed for the name of the plant, never have seen it before. Maybe some bee farmer wants to have it?
@Paul: Thanks for the link, a useful one.
