I smile at your play with that little bit of a broken twig

We went once again to Luukki today, as the children wanted to swim. One of their friends also came with us. It was a warm day, and even though the water isn't yet really warm, the children spent quite some time swimming.

After the swim we went to a concert where our oldest daughter played the piano. The youngest member of the audience wanted to perform as well, and was running around and making happy noises on the stage, giving people a reason to smile. A lot of things for one day.

(Posting title is from the poem Playthings by Rabindranath Tagore.)

I absolutely love that time of the year.

Say, what exactly constitutes swimming temperatures in Finland?

@Andreas: You might make a Google image search with the Finnish word "avantouinti" as keyword to get an idea about Finnish swimming temperatures. (English translation is "ice swimming".)

Anyway, I'm not very fond of cold water, but if one wants to swim in Finland one needs to be adaptable, because there can be summers when the water temperature doesn't ever raise above 15 °C. But for the children anything above 10 °C seems to be acceptable...

@Andreas: Related to ice swimming, some people seem to really enjoy it, the rush of endorphins. And apparently really cold water (< 5 °C) doesn't feel so cold any more because of the heavy adrenaline shock which protects the body. But as I said, I'm not really keen on swimming in cold water.
