To think that I’m a slave

The photographs were taken on February 5th.

Riding the bicycle was challenging today because of snow slush and melting ice. In some places there were deep puddles of water with hidden ice chunks and ice ridges under the surface. So far this year I have got 816 km riding the bicycle.

Of ice and earth and qualities of air

The photographs were taken on February 5th.

Riding the bicycle was quite heavy today because of snow. In the morning it is no longer dark when I commute to work, quite a change in less than two weeks.

I haven't followed the news today, so I don't know what terrible things Orange Agent may have done, but I discussed his previous behaviour with colleagues who were quite as perplexed as I am. The world is getting close to breaking point, but fortunately there are people who have the willpower to #resist. May the force be with them.

But I am thinking of winter

The photographs were taken on February 5th, after snowfall. We are getting some more snow today, but for the middle of next week the weather forecast promises warmer weather, and even rain.

I wonder if Canada is making plans to build a wall to keep away the people trying to escape the maelstrom in south? I know, this joke is already dated, but I just can't understand what is happening in the USA.

As if  the seconds

The photographs were taken at Sipoonkorpi National Park on February 4th.

This morning I walked for 2 h 20 min at Meiko, exploring the snowy landscape. There was a nice amount of snow, so it was heavy walking. There were some deer tracks, and one path where people had walked, but otherwise the snow was untouched after the snowfall. I'm a bit tired, perhaps because I have got 13 hours of exercise in six days.

I have tried to limit reading news about Trump & minions (or maybe it is Trump who is the minion). I hurts to watch a train wreck in slow motion.

To never have to risk our lives

The photographs were taken on February 4th at Sipoonkorpi National Park.

I walked for over two hours this morning, enjoying the landscape after the snowfall. Within one day the depth of snow increased from 10 cm to 26 cm.

O minutehand, teach me

The photographs were taken on January 30th.

We got wet and heavy snow during the night. I shoveled snow for an hour in the morning. So far this week I have got 8 1/2 hours of exercise, most of it walking.

I can't help following what is happening with Trump and his cohorts. It has been difficult to understand that some people still support Trump, despite all the lies and idiocy. I fear that "give enough rope" can take too long, and damages can be terrible. Fortunately there are good people who continue to #resist.

Your other hand pointing

The photographs were taken on January 29th.

Early in the morning the temperature was at -12 °C, but it soon rose to -3.5 °C. For the next night and tomorrow the weather forecast promises 10 cm of snowfall.

In his shadow he sees searchlights

The photograph was taken on January 29th.

We got some new snow yesterday, and today is a sunny day. I walked for 2 1/2 hours, exploring the Timmermalmi nature protection area. And then I repaired a chair.

Should I write something about Orange Agent today? I haven't looked at the news yet, preferring the reading of printed books instead. But I'm sure there is something to demonstrate the hidden shallows once again.

Is to carve a portion of the day

The photographs were taken on January 28th in Nuuksio.

This morning I walked for 2 h 20 min in the north parts of Sipoonkorpi National Park. My car was the only one at the parking place near Västerhov. I walked to lake Kantorsträsk, and it was somewhat disappointing to find out that a lot of forestry work had been done north of the lake, of the clearcutting type. The landscape had changed a lot, and I got somewhat lost, but that turned out to be a fine thing as I found new routes across the forests and swamps.

I have been thinking about Orange Agent, who can't be trusted with anything, and who can be manipulated to do terrible and unpredictable things without any moral sense. He is such a tiny human being, without any redeeming qualities. It isn't funny any more, it is downright scary.

No image, for images too deep

The photographs were taken on January 28th at Velskola.

The LX100 dust problem appeared again, with the new LX100 which I bought in July 2016. So far I have taken 34,000 photographs with it, and the problem first appeared two weeks ago. Below you see the dust particle in the right upper corner of the photograph (taken at f/16). With the old LX100 the problem appeared much later, when the camera was no longer under warranty.

When the old LX100 got broken after 100,000 photographs taken, I decided to get a new LX100, but now it is apparent that the dust problem is quite widespread. I'm planning to send the camera for repairs at some point, but I'm loath to be without a camera for any longer period.

It seems that changing the shooting style didn't help with the LX100. I thought that shutting down the camera and starting it up again would be the reason for getting dust inside the lens, and thus I have been keeping the new LX100 on all the time when using it. But I guess the dust still gets inside, via zooming, when dust particles get stuck to the lens barrel and bit by bit travel into the lens.

At some point I thought about getting the Panasonic GX80 with the Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, but it would be a bit limited choice. And much less bokeh in closeups... Another possible choice is the Panasonic LX15, which is however quite limited in the controls compared to the LX100. And apparently there is no 1:1 aspect ratio available. Another choice would be yet another LX100, which isn't that impossible to think as the price has gone down to 550 euro. But then there is the dust which would kill the LX100 at some point.

I gave you space and found myself at the border

The photographs were taken on January 22nd in Tikkurila.

We went to seen the Passengers movie today. It was quite ok, even though the plot had big holes in it. Still, time well spent.

Should I write about the enemy of the people, who has baby-carrot fingers and can't tell a truth? It is sad to see a once great country going to pieces like this, destroyed from the top, becoming a little more corrupt each day.

When he writes he thinks of her constantly

The photograph was taken in Tikkurila on January 23rd.

Today I found out that "to trump" means "to fart", and suddenly I realized that I have missed the point of quite a few trump jokes.

The photograph was taken on January 27th. For some reason I have taken a lot of photographs of fences and walls recently. I wonder why...

In my waking hour, I see

The photograph was taken on January 22nd.

The length of day is now over nine hours. In the morning the sky starts to show some brightening when I commute to work, and in the afternoon the sun is still up. There is spring in the air...

The apprentice show provided by Orange Agent is full of strange twits. It starts to be a full-time job to keep track of all the havoc generated by the unqualified sidekicks, not to speak of the chaos produced by the master of odiousness himself.

One by one they all fall down

The photographs were taken on January 22nd.

We had 2 °C in the morning and 6 °C in the afternoon. The road was wet, and in some places they use salt to melt snow and ice. Thus the bicycle chain got rust. I had to do cleaning and lubing when I got home.

Orange Agent's bromance has developed quite a turbulence. We are now less than 2% into the four years. One wonders what revelations are ahead next.

Monday, February 13, 2017

Fate is strong, but Love is stronger

The photographs were taken on January 21st.

The weather is warming up. In the morning we had -1 °C and in the afternoon 4 °C. The ice is melting away from the road.

I wonder what Orange Agent and his minions have done recently. Do I dare look at the news?

As I trace small paths

The photograph was taken on January 21st.

Today I walked for two hours, criss-crossing the Timmermalmi nature protection area. This was the first visit, and even though the area is not large, there are a lot of hills and swamps to explore. I think I'll return there when spring colors start to come out.

They praised positive thinking

The photographs were taken on January 17th in Helsinki.

This morning I walked for two hours at Oittaa, going across lake Sorlampi. There were skiing tracks along the bigger paths, but also plenty of smaller paths for walking.

Should I say something about the baby-carrot fingers, who is being manipulated by unscrupulous scumbags. Well, perhaps not today. In any case, have a look at the video America first, Finland second. It is a story about women and pies, among other Finnish things.

Of all this unintelligible world

The photographs were taken on January 15th.

Today was Winter Bike to Work Day. In the morning the temperature was -10 °C, in the afternoon -6 °C. So far this year I have got 612 km riding the bicycle.

And kept a pack of fools around you

The photograph was taken on January 14th.

It was cold in the morning, -14 °C, but it got warmer, -6.5 °C in the afternoon. I got to know that the combination of a dentist's appointment and commuting by bicycle in cold weather can produce surprising results. Due to local anesthesia the face muscles didn't work properly, and there was more saliva production that usually, which meant that my chin got a covering of frozen saliva, and there were icicles hanging as well.

I have been thinking about the orange one who tries to make America hate again. I think it is not only him who should be the target of the #resist movement, it is especially those politicians who are enabling his atrocities, some actively defending him but most being silent about the viciousness.

The trees lean closer today

The photograph was taken on January 14th.

What about using his own words against him? Here is a quote:

Trump is incredibly dangerous. Incredibly dangerous! It’s obvious. He’s corrupt, he’s unstable, he’s reckless. Yemen? Disaster. Putin? Pulling the strings. We’re not safe with him in office. Totally unsafe. We need your help. When are you going to take a stand against this guy? When? He’s got to go. It’s obvious. Everyone agrees.

There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me

The photographs were taken in Helsinki on January 13th.

In the morning the temperature was at -6.5 °C and in the afternoon -9 °C, with heavy wind. I wore several layers when commuting by bicycle, and didn't get cold hands or feet.

I must admire the skill of native English (or perhaps rather American) speakers. For example, the phrase x-in-chief has got lots of use recently, x being substituted by toddler, idiot, c student, swindler, lunatic, etc.

Hold each in turn my wandering eyes

The photographs were taken on January 12th.

During the night we got 2 cm of wet snow, which stuck into trees, making the landscape white. I walked for two hours, and shoveled snow a little bit. This week I have got 11 hours of exercise, less than usually.

When I started walking, I thought about all the idiotic things done by the baby-carrot fingers so far. Shouldn't some kind of guardian be appointed to keep him out of trouble? How long will this narcissistic show go on, with all the stuttering, posturing and ignorance?
