Flooded

Pier, originally uploaded by jiihaa.

It has rained quite a lot recently, so the ground is wet and there is a lot of water in lakes and rivers. The photograph shown here was taken yesterday at Kurkijärvi, "Crane Lake", showing the effects of the flooding. But it seems that we will have brighter and warmer weather ahead, so the wetness will diminish somewhat. It has been a cool summer so far, and thus it would be good to have some warm days for a while.

Love this image. Somehow it relates strongly to me. It reminds me of childhood and our lakes in Carinthia, of summers when we sweated during the last days of school, only to begin the summer holidays with a three week period of rain :)

All too often the summer in Finland is just like that. It is said that memory saves only the best - the warm and sunny summer days - but I remember a lot of rainy summer days from childhood. And this hasn't changed for the better, last summer was quite cool and rainy.
