Yesterday I wrote about forests, and their size, and suggested that a good measure of size would be the time to walk across a forest. Today I walked for two hours and twenty minutes in the Nuuksio national park, which is a place where you can walk a long time in a real forest.
That two hours was spend in a circular route, with several detours along the way, but it was a pleasure. And also a surprise: the weather forecast for today promised rain, rain, rain, but that came late in the afternoon.

Juha, guessing from the pictures that was a worthwile walk, I like that kind of severe mood, no fresh colours of the other seasons are here any more, but it certainly looks inviting to spend some time, given you have a warm retreat for the night.
Two hour forest are rare in Southern Bavaria, too, as roads cut through everywhere and hamlets tend to grow - it seems that over time most garages develop into full grown houses here.
@Markus: I was great to get some sunlight. But the walk was exhausting, maybe because it was slippery because of the ice and one had to be careful. Or then it may be that a flu is about to hit, some symptoms have been showing up in the family.
"Rock and grass" and "Stone" are very, very nice. I keep saying it, but your seeing eye and skill with that camera are a wonderful combination.

It sure seems that a flu is about to hit, I have the same symptoms as the children have had: headache, sore throat, overall weakness.
That also explains why I didn't enjoy the walk quite as much as I thought I would, getting a bit weak towards the end.
I like all of these but the photo label "Edge" is fantastic. Well done.
I take it that you have very good shoes! I remember some long time ago, a vague recollection, of you talking about some other shoes that you had that could withstand other extremes. :)

@ken: Well, "Edge" is a kind of tribute to Andreas Manessinger, who often uses diagonals in an extremely creative way.
@Paul: You are right about the shoes. I bought new ones for walking last spring, made by Sievi, to replace my old Meindl hiking shoes.
These shoes (SIEVI GT 16 S3) have been very good, fitting my wide feet, and I haven't had any trouble even on longer walks. They are a bit heavy, but consuming more calories isn't so critical, in fact it may be a good thing...

Can you choose the square format in your LX3 or du you crop afterwards?
@Hagen: I'm using the LX5, and the square format is available directly on the aspect ratio switch. In the LX3, it can be selected through the menu system.
I don't crop photographs, my approach is "straight jpegs from the camera". And I have tested using RAW, but haven't seem yet much use for it.
