We have a lot of mushrooms visible just now, so I think it is a good time to remember how vital mushrooms - and mycelium - are for living things. Mushrooms have a key role in the decomposition of plant material, keeping the ecosystem up and running.

Juha, I never saw so beautiful specimen of Amanita here in Germany. By the way, the German name is "Fliegenpilz", which would be translated a "fly mushroom", too.

Don't remember exactly, but there is a story behind the name... Was it so that these mushrooms were used to trap flies in the old days?
