I went with the daughters for a walk at lake Myllyjärvi. There are several lakes with the same name, this is the one near the Carmelite Monastery in Espoo. It was sunny, a little bit of wind but not so that it would have been cold.
Here is a little series of ice-pictures, of what is to be found on the transient two-dimensional world of melting lake ice. I'll post a second series (and maybe a third as well), with somewhat different subject matter.
To let you in on a secret, the reason why I posted this as a set of photographs was that I couldn't decide which of these was the best. Can you decide?
(Posting title is from the poem Ice by Gail Mazur.)

Ice 3 is my favorite. Mysterious and perfectly composed. The others are very nice too, this just jumped at me.
@James: Interesting...
I tried to rotate "Ice 3" to different directions, thinking that it could be improved, but finally I realized the original was best. And still it bothers me that I'm not quite sure about it...
No, I wouldn't want to miss any of them. Well, maybe the first two don't attract me that much, but somehow they are simply part of the story.
@Andreas: Thanks!
Now, in retrospect, I have to wonder about the quality of light that day, which was just perfect for this kind of subject matter, sunny but light clouds to provide some spread to the light.
