It has been blurry, these past few days. As a colleague said, "make the world ready before Christmas". And another was asked by her daughter what he had done at work, and the answer was: "I saved the world."
But soon there will be time to relax and ponder the beauty of winter. Snow depth is now 64 cm...

Good thing that you're used to getting snow, my friend. Some would have given up by now. LOL - I'm probably one of them. Since I moved to North Carolina, I "deal with" annual snowfalls of about 2 - 10 cm and that's the total for the ENTIRE winter!
Paul, we are now much above average in snow depth, typical snow depth in December would be 10 cm or less. And the max depth of snow usually occurs in late February-early March...
This is a rather delicate thing, as the temperature hovers around 0 °C for quite a long time in October-November. A few degrees above and we get rain, a few degrees below and we get snow. And we have got plenty of both this year.
Oh. I thought that this was a normal thing. Good to hear that this is just one of those odd winters. Hopefully, this is not a sign of things to come or we might not hear of your walks for a while because you'd not be able to get out of the house in late February!
Paul, there was a news item about snow depth saying that 64 cm is quite a record - in 1965 there was 78 cm of snow, but 64 cm is the max since then.
I do hope that we won't getting too much snow during this winter, but that may happen, perhaps partly due to climate change.
And by the way, the exterior doors in our houses usually open outwards. I have heard that in places (e.g. some sites in Norway) where there really is a lot of snow, they open inwards. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to go outside at all after a snowstorm...
