Zeitoun

Autumn colors, originally uploaded by jiihaa.

A second posting today? Quite offtopic, too. But why not?

While flying back to Helsinki on my trip to Leuven, I bought a nonfiction book by Dave Eggers, titled Zeitoun. Have a look at some of the reviews, for example at Guardian and The New York Times. Or Amazon. And here is a link to the Zeitoun Foundation, and the book.

Of course, this book may be old news to you, but for me it was a revelation. How a country can become so blind and so ugly? Good at building prisons and terrorizing citizens; bad at helping people in need and making things right.

Juha,

I'm really impressed with the quality of shots from your LX-3. I have a Lumix P&S that I enjoy quite a bit but it's not quite on a par with yours.

As usual, great stuff!

I guess one sometimes gets it right - but failures tend to teach more than the successes...
