Every day I will give you a color

We have fresh snow, and it is colorful out there after dark, because the street lights are reflected up to the clouds and back from there. This is a difficult situation for a camera, getting the exposure the same way as the eye sees. On the other hand, the eye sees also differently depending on the situation.

In these photographs the colors seen by the eye and those produced with the LX5 are quite similar. Some were taken in Helsinki, others while going for a walk with our youngest daughter.

I particularly like the reddish skies. Mars? :) Yes, our eyes are wonderful things when it comes to white balance, or should I say our brains are great at compensating for all manner of light.

@Paul: Looking from above to the ground (as I did when I recently returned from Lisbon to Helsinki) it is clear that there are mainly two types of street lights: orange/red ones and bluish ones. When they mix the results can be strange.
