On Sunday I went for a walk in the Nuuksio forests with two older daughters. We had picnic there, and walked around one of the marked routes. It was a sunny day once again, but it was not too crowded, and there was plenty of possibilities to explore the forests along the paths in snow.
During the long Easter weeked I read a great book about walking, Wild by Cheryl Strayed, telling a story of hiking 1,100 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail without having any prior backpacking experience. A remarkable non-fiction book, and remarkable storytelling skills. I haven't done much long-range backpacking but the way Strayed tells about the physical pain felt about right. There is no easy way to do it.
