On May 29th I observed a pair of Gavia stellata at two neighboring lakes in Luukki, first at lake Käärlampi, where they were diving for food, and then at lake Hepolampi, where they were resting (and most probably nesting). When they flew away from lake Käärlampi, they cackled a bit like goose, and on lake Hepolampi they made wailing sounds. It was very wet, and rather cold, everything seemed to be still at lake Hepolampi.
I took some photographs with the Panasonic LX5, but as the lens is 90 mm equiv. at the tele end, there is not much to be seen in the photographs.
