These photographs were taken on August 29th in Meiko. I also got plenty of deer fly.

Today while commuting by bicycle it took less than 40 minutes to get home, even though there was quite a lot of traffic and a little headwind. Usually it takes 45 minutes or more, but I didn't even try hard and still got the fastest time ever in getting home. It just felt easy to keep on going even in the uphill parts on the way.
The photographs were taken by lake Mustjärvi at Meiko on August 29th.

The weather starts to be somewhat colder than so far this autumn, and I need to use warmer clothing for the bicycle commute. Otherwise the weather is good, even though there was a little bit of rain in Helsinki today.
The photographs were taken on August 22nd near the Petikko landfill area. It was noisy.

This morning I intended to go for a somewhat shorter walk. I started from lake Myllyjärvi near Pirttimäki, and walked north towards Luukki. There was still a little bit of fog swirling on the lake. The weather was dry and sunny, but when I started it was rather cold, +5 °C, and +9 °C when I returned. I didn't get any deer fly, probably because it was too cold for them.
When the children were small we used to visit lake Myllyjärvi quite often, walking around the lake. When I got my first digital camera, Canon Ixus 400, I took plenty of landscape photographs at lake Myllyjärvi, and that was one factor why I got interested in photography after a pause of several years.
There were quite a lot of things to explore north of lake Myllyjärvi, and thus the walk took 2 h 20 minutes, much longer than planned, but it was good. This week I have got over 11 hours of exercise so far.
The photographs were taken at Odilampi on August 22nd and 23rd.

This morning I walked 2 1/2 hours in Luukki, exploring the river which flows south from lake Luukki, and walking around the Kaurasuo swap. It was foggy in the morning, and I got only two deer fly, probably because it was too wet for them.
The photographs were taken at Tremanskärr on August 16th and 21st.

These photographs were taken early in the morning at Tremanskärr in August 16th and August 21st. The weather forecast promises sunny and warm weather for the weekend, which means that there will be plenty of deer fly to meet.

Today I noticed that I have only 24 books on loan from the library, whereas I usually have 40 or 50 books. But that will be soon rectified, as I have eight books waiting to be picked up from the local library.
On August 15th I walked in the north parts of Vaakkoi, exploring the swamps. I took a lot of non-square photographs, as the landscape was horizontal.

I spent today three hours on the train, visiting Turku. This reminded me that I should go there more often.
The photographs were taken in Nuuksio on August 9th.

Since the beginning of May I have got 2087 km riding the bicycle. Last year I got 1917 km during the same period, so this year I got 170 km more riding. Not bad. And I should get another 2000 km during the next seven months, if the winter will be as mild as they have been recently.
The photographs were taken on August 9th while walking around lake Suolikas in Nuuksio, which took 3 h 15 min, quite a bit longer than I estimated. Some day I should do it again, maybe during winter.
