Olympus and Panasonic just announced a new Micro Four Thirds standard, which makes it possible a new, much smaller type of camera with interchangeable lenses. Now this is really something to look forward to. The new cameras will be much smaller than the existing smallest DSLR, Olympus E-420, as will be the new micro 4/3 lenses.
If this announcement holds the promises - no new cameras and lenses have yet been announced - I will definetely invest in a DSLR of this type. A pocketable DSLR, that is something hard to resist.
Update: Of course, these new cameras are not really SLRs, because they eliminate the mirror from the construction (R as reflex), but they are not compacts or rangefinders either. SLE = Single Lens Electronic perhaps?
