"At the heart of every garden lies an idea." Such lofty words are written in Sam Abell's book Seeing Gardens. The book is somewhat lofty, but also down-to-earth. It is a joy of discovery for the reader, whether she is young or old. And it is of interest to both photographers and gardeners, hobbyist or pro.
This book must be one of the best book purchases I have ever made. It cost 14 euro, of which two thirds was shipping. It is softcover, but the book was in excellent condition, and there are over 200 pages to view.
I bought the book through Amazon US although the book was actually shipped from UK. It is still available. (It is available also from Amazon UK, but the total price was higher.)
Sam Abell is the photographer whose work I have most consistently admired, returning to it again and once again.
The [three] photographs [above] were taken today while I was walking to the post office to fetch the book.
Yesterday we had storm at night, as shown in the photograph below. Today I thought that it would have been nice to catch some lightning strikes in a photograph, but never mind.

Love all three. On first glance #1 reminded me of a dead animal :)
I liked the organic look of the thing ... signs of wear, almost as if it were alive.
