In black acres of the night

Today is Father's Day here in Finland, on the second Sunday of November. This is yet another import from the United States. And as many other days, especially Christmas, it is a day for marketeers, another occasion for consumption.

But you can celebrate the day in low-key, without excess. The children had made drawings and handwork for presents, which were great, and then we went to see a Japanese animated children's movie, Kari-gurashi no Arietti, which is in English The Secret World of Arrietty and in Finnish Kätkijät. This is a masterpiece from Studio Ghibli, good for children and parents as well.

Later I went for a walk, but it was getting dark already. The length of day is now 7 h 41 min, and there isn't much time between sunrise and sunset.
