On February 8th I walked in Tremanskärr, across the swamp, north through the forest, to the path that goes from east to west towards Serena ski resort, and then back south past lake Kurkijärvi. There were no other people walking, or skiing, maybe because of the wet and foggy weather.
Snow is disappearing from forests and swamps. In some places there is hardly any snow left, while in some places there is still plenty of it, up to 10-15 cm. Lakes, swamps, ditches and rivers are flooding, weakening the ice and melting the frozen ground. For a photographer there is a lot of things to see.
(Posting title is from the poem This Inwardness, This Ice by Christian Wiman.)
