Be suspicious of the power they claim

These photographs were taken in Helsinki on April 4th, early in the morning.

I commuted by bicycle, and feel a bit tired. Maybe I should have a rest day once in a while. On the other hand, there is vacation ahead.

For Thursday I'm planning a long walk in a place I haven't visited before, and thus there is some uncertainty how to get there, is there a good place to park the car, and what the landscape is really like. But it should be rather nice - I'll let you know how it turns out.

(Posting title is from the poem Dreams by Günter Eich, translated by Michael Hofmann.)

The dark areas in #1 and your shadows in #2 and #3 go well with the poem you quoted for the title - I just read it in German, thanks to the avaialability of such things on the internet.

This is the part of Helsinki where much of the state power is centralized, Presidential Palace, ministries, etc., and that was one reason for selecting the title.

Another thing is that one day while walking back from a seminar, a sharp-eyed colleague noticed that there was a little fast predator hopping on the street beside the building you see in photograph #2. I think it was Mustela erminea, and I have never before seen it in a city (or elsewhere in nature either).

So if it was Mustela erminea, it chose its habitat very well!

Well, it is a species of which it is said that "it does not face any significant threat to its survival".
