These two photographs were a bit of enigma for me. First I was going to delete them. Then I thought they were beautiful. And finally I couldn't decide.

I'm glad you didn't delete them, because I think they're quite beautiful. They make me want to go out and take some pictures, even if I don't get farther than my yard. We have some snow cover here too, in Pennsylvania, USA.
The pictures are certainly not ugly, the problem may be that they just aren't as striking as some of your other similar images. That's the problem with seeking out better and better compositions, you are continually raising the bar! They've certainly got the jiihaa touch!
@Meredith: Good to hear you have snow, it makes things look like new. We got some additional snow, now there is about 20 cm of snow on the ground. This is better than last winter, it was really bad in terms of winter weather.
@Colin: After sleeping a night, I feel the same, some of the "kick" is missing. (Doing some fancy post-processing might help but I would rather go and take new photos.)
what is trash for one, it may be art for another
#1 made me go "WOW!" even before I read the question :)
You have quite a talent to work on this kind of everyday subjects. I am always amazed when you come up with them.
@Andreas: Thanks - I have spotted a couple of times a bit similar subjects and thought I could do a bit better, but so far no luck. It is suprisingly difficult to catch the beauty of "a pile of twigs" (or something else of that kind).
