Today we got 5-10 cm more snow, so it is starting to feel like winter. Here are a few photos from late today evening. Streetlights are reflected from the snow to the clouds, and down again. It is fortunate that there is no chain reaction so that the reflections would multiply each other into an unbearable amount of light. But, it was light.

Well, congratulations on getting a bit of snow instead of just bleak, cold weather. :-) Maybe, if you want more snow, you could head over the mountains to Norway and have a snow-fest! Or perhaps Sweden. Does it snow much in Sweden?

Well, at least the Swedish ski resorts seem to have enough snow at the moment.

Actually, come to think of it, it was said that the last year was the warmest since 1961 or so in Finland, and we got rain much above the average amount. So, there is enough moisture coming from the Atlantic, only it wasn't cold enough for snow.

In Sweden they have invested in big (really big) supercomputers to simulate the effects of climate change, for example forecasting the effects of flooding. My company has been involved in doing climate simulations as well with the Finnish supercomputer, in collaboration with the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
