The Frog is justly sensitive

Today I commuted by bicycle, and the weather was just right, dry but not too hot. Later, after dinner, there was rain, occasionally quite heavy, but I went out for a walk with my daughter anyway.

At a nearby lake a lot of frogs were crossing the path, most going away from the lake, and trying to avoid people. But there was one biggish frog, who was not afraid, trying to look even bigger by posturing.

(Posting title is from the poem The Frog by Hilaire Belloc.)

Juha, "Rain" is just wonderful. Shapes and colors do blend perfectly with the mood of a rainy hour.

@Markus: Rain is good for photography, though maybe not always for the cameras or the photographers.

But you didn't like the frog? (Or actually a toad.) I hope he is not affronted. ;-)

I read a bit about toads yesterday, and I think this posture is a bit untypical as usually they raise their bottoms and lower the head which is rather vulnerable. But this one did the opposite.

Juha, the toad is fine (decades ago I helped to transport these across the road during spawning season). But what draw me to "Rain" is, to quote Minor White, what else it is. For me it's an image that I not only see and behold, but which awakes lots of loose ends in my nervous system, many of them not directly connected with the image itself.

Thanks Markus, photographs do often work in surprising ways, and it is somewhat unpredictable which photographs have this additional layer of deep meanings, as if there would be for each of us a strange language we only occasionally have access to.
