What character is to a man

Today I started going through the backlog of photographs waiting for processing.

Late in the evening yesterday I went for a walk, taking photographs of trees covered in ice and snow. Originally I was planning to capture the Moon in the photographs, but clouds soon covered the sky and this plan didn't work. On the other hand, I got plenty of trees. And in one of these photographs the Moon is also visible.

One thing I always wonder about is that I don't usually see other people with a camera when it is dark. Mybe they don't realize how good the cameras are nowadays.

Lovely set of images. I love the crisp lighting from the streetlights on the snow.

Thanks, Tony. Fresh new snow is remarkable and challenging for a photographer.

Really like the first two... the red light but the snow is balanced... great shots.

Thanks, John. I guess the colors of the night may change rather radically when LED light starts replacing the old streetlights, especially sodium lights.

Extremely few people take pictures like we do. Most are recording memories, and streets at night are generally not considered memorable :)

Well, some streets at night have been rather memorable... but I didn't have a camera with me then. ;-)

Anyway, this is my kind of street photography, and one of the things which make the long dark winter time bearable. Sometimes I even miss the dark nights.
